PM Urges All Educational Institutions to Establish Cambodian Scout Movement

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen made some recommendations to promote the progress of the Cambodian Scout Movement, during the closing ceremony of the “Fourth National Scout General Assembly of Cambodia, 2022-2027," on Monday afternoon, 10 October, at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia.

The Prime Minister advised all public and private institutions that have not yet established a scout movement to cooperate with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports to build senior scouts in their respective units. The Prime Minister said that any educational institution that has not yet formed a scout group should organize one.

"All public and private educational institutions must take care to create a scout group," he said. "I would like to appeal that if any school does not have or lacks Scout uniforms due to a lack of funds, the school alumni should support. Because currently those who have graduated from school are in the tens of thousands, and many have decent salaries and can afford to support the school."

The Prime Minister instructed the fourth mandate National Executive Committee of the Capital, Province, Municipality, District and Communes to continue promoting education and training of youth resources by supporting the youth scout movement and self-education programs to benefit the nation.

The Prime Minister advised to increase cooperation with the World Organization of the Scout Movement in all national and regional scout organizations to increase the efficiency of the exchange of scout training programs and the implementation of scout leadership skills, in line with regional and global levels.

Prime Minister Hun Sen continues to encourage young scouts with ability and qualifications to compete in regional and global scout committees. At the same time, the National Scout Executive Council and Executive Committee must continue to develop long-term, medium-term and short-term action plans.

The Prime Minister has recommended the continued mobilization of scouts at all levels to support national scout activities throughout the country, in order to continue strengthening the efficiency of the management structure and activities of the Cambodia Scouts. This includes establishing senior scout policies and programs and establishing senior scout groups to mobilize and control scout forces across the country.

In addition, the Head of the Royal Government recommended continuing cooperation with ministries, institutions, the private sector, partner organizations, the World Organization of the Scout Movement, the national scout association in the region and the world to co-organize workshops, youth forums, cultural exchanges, training courses and regional and global camps to enhance the prestige of Cambodia Scouts on the international stage.

The Prime Minister also advised to continue inspiring Cambodia Scout activities at all levels, seeking further funding and support and establishing annual events with international scout events.
